This seminar will include a review of the early warning indicators of a juvenile bomb maker, the current national statistics on juveniles and bombs and the precursors and instrumentalities showcased by the Internet. Participants will be provided with pre-and post- blast investigative techniques from the "Bomb Tech" perspective that will include a discussion of the issue as it relates to educational institutions. The "Bomb Techs" presentation will include static display, a canine and robot demo, and will utilize actual case examples to highlight teaching points.
This seminar will also give participants a "criminal investigators" perspective that will be highlighted by a section on "how to build a case" that incorporates sound investigative principles and juvenile legal issues. National DO NOT CALL Registry
FYI....I looked on the Do Not Call official website from the FTC and found
the following Q&A regarding cell phone registration and the emails urging
people to register cell phones:
What Phone Numbers Can I Register?
2. Can I register my cell phone on the National Do Not Call Registry?
Yes, you may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do
Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since
it opened for registrations in June 2003. There is no deadline to
register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.
You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is
about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new
cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. FCC
regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to
call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the
industry, so most telemarketers don’t call consumers on their cell
phones without their consent.
Sheila A. Doiron
Director, Communications and Community Relations
Many of you have town phones and I would suggest calling to place your town phones on the do not cal list
REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month.
REMINDER..... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.
.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.
It is the National DO NOT CALL list It will only take a minute of your time... It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
The Millbury Fire Department is looking for policies on allowing technicians to short arm a master box to test a system. Does any department have something like this in place? Can be sent to millburyfire@yahoo.com

CFSI webinar on Federal Fire Sprinkler legislation supported by FCAM
CFSI Webinar Series
Advocating for Fire Sprinklers on Capitol Hill
DATE: 2/25/2009
TIME: 2:00 - 3:00PM EST
LOCATION: Your personal computer!
COST: Free
RSVP: Email malderfer@cfsi.org by 2/24/2010
Moderated by Bill Webb, CFSI Executive Director, the program will feature Andy Quinn, founding partner of McAllister and Quinn, a leading government relations company in Washington, DC. The two of them will talk about the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act, legislation that would create economic incentives to install automatic fire sprinklers in commercial buildings. An important legislative initiative for the major fire service organizations, the measure was originally introduced in 2003 following the Station fire in West Warwick, RI that claimed the lives of 100 victims. Quinn serves as key advisor to a broad-based coalition of public safety organizations advocating for passage of the measure. A former legislative director for Congressman Steny Hoyer (MD-5), Quinn will discuss potential strategies for passage of the bill and answer questions regarding the overall outlook for working with Congress in the second session of the 111th Congress. His insight and knowledge of the inner workings of Congress can be of great benefit to fire service leaders who want to learn more about the legislative process.
To register for this webinar please email malderfer@cfsi.org by close-of-business February 24, 2010.
Established in 1989 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy institute, CFSI is designed to educate members of Congress about the needs and challenges of our nation's fire and emergency services so that the federal government provides the types of training and funding needed by our first responders.
For CFSI, success is built around education. In an effort to better educate Congress about the needs of the fire service, and to keep the fire service informed on activities in our nation's capital, we are proud to launch the CFSI Webinar Series. Each month CFSI will host a webinar featuring members of Congress, Congressional staff, federal officials, or fire service leaders discussing the pertinent national issues affecting the fire and emergency services.
CFSI would like to thank our sponsor:
