Death of f William F. Kelley - the father of Chief William F. Kelley, Jr., Ret. - Norfolk Fire Dept.

William F. Kelley, 83, of Brooksville, FL, died, Friday, July 23, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy E. (Morrill) Kelley for the past 63 years.
Born in Norwood on May 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (O’Malley) Kelley. Mr. Kelley was a lifelong resident of Walpole until his retirement 16 years ago when began wintering in Brooksville, FL and summering in S. Carver.
Mr. Kelley attended Walpole High School and later graduated from the Boston Trade School. He served in the Navy for 3 years during WWII and attained the rank of Carpenter’s Mate 3rd Class.
Before his retirement, Mr. Kelley was the owner of the former Kelley Brothers Custom Kitchen Cabinets for 40 years.
He was a proud member of the United States LST Assoc. having served on LST 25 during WWII. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to travel.
Besides his wife, he is survived by; two sons, William F. Kelley Jr., Retired Norfolk Fire Chief and his wife, Cheryl of Norfolk and Thomas M. Kelley and his wife, Barbara of Foxboro, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Donna Lee Sheehan and brother of the late Richard T. Kelley.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole on Thursday, July 29 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond St. in Walpole at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family request that donations may be made in his daughter, Donna Sheehan’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute – Breast Cancer Research Fund, 10 Brookline Place West 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445 (www.dana-farber.org).
