Assistant Fire Chief

Town of Sudbury

The Town of Sudbury seeks a qualified fire service professional to serve as Assistant Fire Chief.  This management level position reports to the Fire Chief and involves technical, administrative and supervisory responsibilities.  Knowledge of all aspects of fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical service operations and departmental administration is essential.  The successful candidate will possess superrior leadership, administration, interpersonal, oral and writtten communicication and organizational skills,  and computer proficiency. 

The Sudbury Fire Department consists of 34 full time personnel, with a headquarters and two substations and a budget of $3.1 million.  The Assistant Chief will also assume responsibility for the fire department in the absence of the Fire Chief. 

Minimum requirements: associate's degree in fire science, bachelor's degree in fire science, public administration or related field preferred; 10 years of firefighting experience, 3 years of supervisory and/or command experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Fire Officer certification preferred. 

  Salary $72, 492 to $78,287 DOQ.
