The Holyoke YMCA and Holyoke Hospital (HMC) are teaming up to help in the fight to defeat Blood Cancer. Every day people all over the US are diagnosed with treatable blood cancer, and often the victims are children. A simple one time bone marrow donation by way of an intravenous or needle bone barrow donation can save a life. In an effort to help the hospital I am trying to get the word out to anyone between the ages of 18 - 55 in good health, to consider becoming a potential donor and as a result potentially saving a life. The screening to see if you are a match consisting of a mouth swab will take place on April 9th starting at 9 am (only for those really serious about making the donation if they are a match in the future).
Would you please consider becoming a donor, and please share this information with anyone or any organization that may support this effort on April 9th. Also be advised that anyone can request a sample kit be sent to their home if they choose to be screened separately.
Thank you from the Fight to Defeat Blood Cancer, the Holyoke Y, & the Holyoke Hospital. One donation can save a life.........
Every 3 minutes, someone within the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Only 30% of all patients are able to find a compatible bone marrow donor. Donors need to be between the ages of 18-55, in good health and willing to donate their bone marrow if a match is made anywhere in the U.S.A.
